As far as the highlights go, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place with a black model. Without edgelining, you have an undefined mess, but too much, as seems to be the case here, and it's just saturated. Can you explain where I went wrong a bit? I have several more stealth Gears to paint and I like to learn from my mistakes...;)
I think I worked with Fortress Grey, actually, which is just a shade lighter than Codex Grey. It seems to me it's more the base color that's the issue. I wish I could find a some kind of Charcoal Grey somewhere...

Just a bit heavy on the highlighting there, Patrick? ;) Still, I can hardly complain given my level of painting skills.
ReplyDeleteReally nice!

ReplyDeleteI don't know. If I was using the same bases as you were, I would try a non-white highlight color. Did you use pure white? Looks like it to me.
ReplyDeleteI would have gone with a light grey or, for my old desert lighting standby, Bleached Bone.

ReplyDeleteNice models. Perhaps a black ink on weapon will be a good idea ;-)
